This project was an opportunity to push myself to confront the homelessness problem that is so dire in Denver today.
I'm privileged to live in a sheltered residential neighborhood with a house and a backyard to weather the pandemic. Occasionally I drive downtown and this is when the extent of the crisis hits me.
For this project I met some of the people affected by the homelessness crisis and spent time chatting with them. I use graphic novel-inspired black and white sketches as a way to process and remember my experiences so I chose this format to relate the experience of one encounter (with the consent of the person I met).
