Communicate

The more we communicate with each other, the closer we become as a society.

The pandemic has impacted me greatly. Although there was individual suffering, it was the communal conflict and turmoil that stays with me (the inhumanity of much of our political and social discourse and worselike police brutality, homelessness, and racism). Everything that happened made me rethink who I am, where I am from, and how I want to perceive and participate in society

Taiko is an artist who lives and works in Denver, Colorado. She was born and raised in Nagano, Japan.

As a Japanese immigrant living in the US, my identity has shifted a lot. The pandemic has impacted me greatly through all of the turmoil (the inhumanity of much of our political discourse and worse, like police brutality and racism). Everything that happened made me rethink who I am, where I am from, how I want to see my society in the future, and so on.

As a result, I feel it is urgent to speak up about things I care about now, rather than waiting until later. Also, the effect of showing as a big group is to create a much stronger voice.
