As I considered this piece, I thought about staying apart, yet coming together. I thought about how the virus seems to be just at or on the surface, yet invisible and hidden. I thought about the image of the virus tricking you as it is strangely appealing to look at and yet frightening to imagine and witness its destruction. The Coyote in some cultures symbolizes a trickster or transformer. It has been said that it brings natural balance as a way-maker, representing an end and therefore new beginnings. Our community howls every night at 8pm, besides bringing great joy and release…it brings together community in solidarity with a common voice. I like to think that this common voice will find its way together in the new normal - as we create new beginnings in the days and months ahead.
